This is a test of the newline handling on the basis of the above comment - why did it
give a single word on a line?

Copy-pasted:

the
warning that tells me I haven't ticked it: "youself"

In a single line, wrapped:

Hmmm. width of the text box is affected by how many lines are used. So the text may be
wrapped unexpectedly.
Could detect these long lines, auto-wrap and request clarification from the user?
Or perhaps detect comment height and change textarea width on the fly with javascript.

I've just added javascript error-detection to the comment entry form. If javascript is
disabled you'll still get them reported on an error-report page.
Oh, and long (wrapping) lines are hard-wrapped and reshown for approval; I think that
makes sense.
Apologies to anyone who found that they couldn't post in the mean-time.

So I changed the font, and now long lines overlap the border with default
settings in firefox. So I'm now reducing the max line length to 82.
Should work now...

I'm having trouble in Distortion Factor.
In the layers/A12BC3 level it was
supposed to be two checkerboards on top of each
other.
Instead, it ended up being the screen shifted toward the corner and a
random horizontal line.
posting by Lysis (site owner) Friday 29 April 2016
How annoying!
Hmmm.
The program generates the distortion pattern for that level as the game loads up.
It does this a line at a time, so as not to freeze everything - this used to
happen while an advert was shown for 10 seconds, which was plenty of time.
Now the ad doesn't show at all, and at modern transfer speeds the game will
load almost instantly.
So I suspect that there's a bug which only comes into effect because of that -
perhaps if you click 'start' very quickly. I must admit that I've tried to
reproduce that and it made no difference - but maybe I'm just too slow. Maybe
a glitch blocked the process after a line just the one time.
Unfortunately I can't easily fix it, because I don't have the Flash
programming environment installed on a computer I can easily use.
So the only thing can do is suggest that you reload and wait a few seconds
(10 should be plenty) before clicking start after loading. Let me know if
the problem recurs and I'll think some more.

Okay I'll try that and tell you how it works out
posting by mneos1876 (curious tartan eagle) Saturday 30 April 2016
it didnt work :(
posting by Lysis (site owner) Monday 2 May 2016
I've thought about this some more, and the only thing I could come up with is
that it's a similar effect which occurs because the game is loading up and
moving on too quickly.
Perhaps I reused an interrupt reference or something like that, leading to a
race condition if it moves through the frames faster than I expected.
Did this issue happen on the first playthrough?
You could try clearing the browser cache, so the game has to be reloaded, that
will slow it down by a few frames, which might do the trick.
Failing that tell me your browser, version of flash (right click on the game to
find that out), operating system etc. - I'm not sure that would help,
but it might narrow it down. And although I think I know what the bug looks like,
a screenshot might help. You can email it to me via my contact
address if you want to keep those details private.
Regardless, thank you for telling me about this issue.
